The Arts, Crafts and Computation programme offers a unique approach to digital design, combining digital fabrication with traditional craftsmanship. It trains designers and artists to transform data into objects by blending traditional craft practices with contemporary technologies.

Over three years, the programme provides teaching in digital design and fabrication, as well as interaction design. An understanding of the process of creating forms, based on a reflection on materials and data, lies at the heart of the programme, characterised as much by experimentation as by the creation of objects in the broadest sense. It also provides an introduction to coding and the use of software for parametric modelling, CNC machining and the creation of interactive objects. Training in the history of design, critical theory and the design of the commons helps to ground the student’s approach.

The specialisation explores the place of the object and space within digital environments, inviting students to imagine new materialities and possible futures.
