Application Timeline

STEP 1: Administrative Registration

From December 19, 2025, to March 20, 2026 (11:59 PM)
Registration procedures differ depending on whether you are applying for admission or equivalence—see specific instructions below.

STEP 2: Eligibility Review (Application Screening) – March 26, 2026


Your file will be reviewed by the jury for pre-selection.
If selected, you will be invited to an individual interview.

STEP 3: Interview Admission – April 7–8, 2026


Selected applicants will receive an invitation on March 30, 2026.
The interview lasts about 10 minutes and will be conducted via video call.
It focuses on your motivation and the projects in your portfolio.

STEP 4: Second-Cycle Admission Committee – April 10, 2026

STEP 5: Results sent to applicants – April 16, 2026

Administrative Registration Requirements

Applicants must hold a higher education diploma (French or international), such as: BTS (vocational training certificate), Licence (Bachelor’s), DNMADE, DNA, Bachelor’s, Master’s, etc.
Preferably in artistic fields.

Placement levels follow recommendations from the French Ministry of Culture.

Application Forms

You will upload both your artistic and administrative files there.

Artistic File

A research statement (PDF) defining the applicant’s research focus, which must include:

  • A letter of intent specifying the scope of the research (questions, issues, themes with the fields of practice and elements of your methodology) to which 5 bibliographic references and 5 artistic references connected to the formulation of the themes are added. (Length: 3,000–6,000 characters)
  • A cover letter specifying the chosen specialisation and research programme, how the applicant’s research connects to ESAD Orléans’ second cycle programme and the reasons for enrolling in the programme.
  • A portfolio (PDF) presenting the applicant’s artistic work and including at least:
  • DNA graduation project (or current research/project) 
  • At least 3, 2nd and 3rd-year projects 
  • A selection of experimental/research work showing technical and artistic practices

Each project must include a caption describing its nature (course project, personal work, group work, etc.).

File Naming

All three files must include your name, e.g.:

Administrative File

-Transcripts proving required ECTS credits, including proof of enrollment for 2025–26 if applicable

– Copies of higher education diplomas (CEAP, DNA, CESAP, BTS, Bachelor’s, Master’s degree) with French translations for international applicants. Original documents may be requested later. Some foreign diplomas may require official certification.

– A copy of a valid ID or passport

-Payment of the €30 application processing fee (non-refundable), either via Paybox on the application form or by bank transfer to:

Proof of payment must be attached.

No refunds will be issued (resolution n°2 of the Board of Directors dated 30 June 2011, and resolution n°4, dated 6 December 2011).

Non-French-speaking applicants must provide TCF (Test of French Knowledge) with a score between 400–499 or DELF B2.

(Without one of these documents, your application cannot be processed.

These exams can be taken abroad at universities, French Institutes, Alliances Françaises, or other registered centres by France Éducation International.

It is strongly recommended not to wait until the deadline.
Any incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Design des communs

  • Pathway: Arts, Crafts and Computation (ACC)

The Arts, Crafts, and Computation pathway at ESAD Orléans enables aspiring designers and artists to learn how to design and create objects that combine digital fabrication processes with traditional craftsmanship in materials such as ceramics, wood, metal, textiles, and more. This pathway allows students to integrate digital tools with visual arts, craft, and even vernacular practices.

Design des médias

  • Pathway: Edition, Media, Design

The Publishing, Media, and Design pathway enables future designers and artists to embrace the changes taking place in the publishing industry within the digital landscape. The programme involves experimenting with new forms of publishing, interactive experiences, and interactive fiction made possible by digital technologies such as augmented reality, interactive transmedia platforms, and video game experiences, while studying the artistic and conceptual intersections currently emerging between print and digital publishing and their influence on writing and storytelling.

  • Pathway: Visual Media

The Visual Media pathway, rooted in a workshop-based approach, offers future designers and artists the opportunity to explore issues related to visual culture, photography, animation, video art, illustration, motion design, and sound design, while encouraging cross-disciplinary collaboration in creative processes and modes of presentation. The aim is to experiment with the image in all its diversity: still images, moving images, time-based images, and sound-based images.
