Entrance Exam
The entrance exam consists of:
- A portfolio (personal work file)
- A practical art test
- A motivation interview
All these components are conducted online and do not require applicants to travel to ESAD Orléans.
To apply for entry into the first year of the Bachelor of Arts, school records and the cover letter are not considered by the jury.
Application Procedures
Participation in the entrance exam requires:
- Completing your application and confirming your choice on Parcoursup before April 1, 2026 – 11:59 PM
- Paying the registration fee (€60 – non-refundable) via Paybox or bank transfer
(If paying by transfer, please upload proof from your bank, including your first and last name in the reference.) - Submitting* your portfolio + practical test before April 9, 2026 – 11:59 PM
* You will receive an email on April 7, 2026, inviting you to log into the school platform, where you can upload your portfolio and practical test.
Regarding the Motivation Interview
You can select your interview time slot directly via Parcoursup.
- Interviews take place from April 13–17 and April 27–30, 2026
- Note: There are no interviews on public holidays or weekends
You are advised not to wait before choosing your time slot.
Please make yourself fully available and avoid scheduling other appointments beforehand.

1. PORTFOLIO
The portfolio includes work completed in high school, preparatory classes, workshops, or independently (One PDF file, max. 10 pages, format flexible)
It should reflect what you can do, and what you enjoy doing: e.g. digital work, 3D images, drawings, sketches, video, photography, illustration, painting, sculpture, etc.
For videos: please provide a web link only ( ESAD cannot upload videos), and ensure the video is publicly accessible.

2. PRACTICAL ART TEST
2026 Topic:
Starting from a work of art or design that you have identified, reinterpret it by making it your own.
The chosen work must align with ESAD’s artistic focus and your academic goals. You must have seen the work in person ( in a museum, art centre, gallery, etc.)
Include a short text specifying the artist’s name, the title of the work, its location and your creative approach.
The technique is open to choice (work must be in digital format submitted via our platform. Accepted formats: PDF, JPG, MP3, or MP4; Max size: 30MB (plus a PDF text file)
Possible techniques include drawing, painting, scenography, digital art (internet art, AI, 3D, VR), performance (recorded), photography, sculpture, video, etc.

3. INTERVIEW
The interview is conducted via video call.
Format
The interview lasts about 10 minutes and is conducted by two teachers and/or art/design professionals.
During the interview, the applicant’s motivation, knowledge of ESAD Orléans programmes, artistic references (art & design) and interest in digital and/or ecological issues will be assessed.

- Motivation to join an art and design school
- Understanding of the chosen programme from the first year
(Arts, Crafts and Computation; Digital Arts and Design; Design Narration Publishing and Visual Media) - Interest in digital issues
- Artists or artworks that inspire you
The artistic file (portfolio and practical test) will support the assessment of the applicant’s motivation and demonstrate their artistic exploration.
Interview Dates
If eligible, the applicant will be invited to book an interview via Parcoursup.
Admission interviews will take place April 13–30, 2026 (excluding weekends and public holidays)
